Installation

21. How can I determine which satellite will be used for my installation?

Satellite allocation is determined and built in the Network Management System (NMS) using the Site Loading Algorithm Mechanism (SLAM). Using SLAM, installations are assigned to satellite T-7 (129 degrees West) or GE-4 (101 degrees West). Satellite assignment utilizing the SLAM is based on multiple variables that include geographic location, bandwidth allocation, and other parameters. To determine your satellite allocation, you will need to access the Quick Parameters sub-menu in CVACS.

Note: Due to space segment allocation and other network management issues, StarBand changes its satellite assignment logic frequently. Always check the CVACS for your specific satellite assignment before beginning any installation.
